A conversation with Prince Babatunde Omisore, CEO Omiguard International

Could you please describe yourself in your own words?
I am a kindhearted man and I love to help other people; above all a God fearing man.

We know that you are a successful Sport man; please tell us what and who inspired you?
I believe my aspiration was drawn from living across the fence of the historic Liberty Stadium Ibadan, after trying several sports as a young kid, I fell in love with the Volleyball game after meeting a father figure coach Jide Omilabu now late. My Late mother was initially against my involvement in sports with the fear that I might not focus on my academics but after her 30 minute meeting with late Coach Jide Omilabu inside Liberty Stadium Ibadan, she changed her mind and gave her blessings. I will resolve to owe my inspiration to my Late Mother and my late Coach Jide Omilabu.

What is success to you, and how do you go about it?
I will describe success as a result of one’s hard work and determination guided by Gods supernatural help. You must be at the right place at the right time in line with your vision and goal setting.

You have been impacting black community, your voice has been heard in so many platforms; please tell us what you have done so far and what are your plans for the future?
I have been impacting several lives especially in Nigeria through sports sponsorships and personal academic scholarships to the less privileged. I plan to establish an Education and sports foundation pretty soon.

Do you think that the crisis in Europe will eventually have great effect on Africa economy?
I may partially agree that Europe crisis will eventually affect the African nations, because the political instability of African nations resulting from incompetent and corrupt leadership has permanently pegged the social and economic development of African nations. Even with the enormous natural and mineral resources embedded in the African soil.

Do you think the Black people have sufficient opportunity in The West, and is anything keeping us behind as a race?
Over the last 20 years, the various immigration rules in Europe has loosened, especially the unification of European countries under one currency EURO, except British. That resulted in better opportunities for Africans. However Africans need to change their perspectives, get out of the minority mentality by ignoring social welfare system and penetrate through the corporate and governmental systems. Above all; stay out of illegal activities.

What do you think the Blacks in Europe should do better, so that one day we will have another ‘Obama’ in Europe?
Educate our children to the highest level and get involved in governance/politics.

What is your advice to the authorities in Africa in terms of security and corruption?
A corrupt government will never provide adequate security for its people, because adequate security costs a lots of money. Security personnel’s needs a state of the earth equipment to combat the modern day criminals/terrorists. African nations need corrupt free government. And stiff anti-corruption laws.

Where would you like to reside permanently in the future, even though we know that you are an International man?
Obviously I would like to reside permanently in Nigeria my birth place in the nearest future.

For few readers that don’t know you, what would you like them to know about you and to always remember you for?
I would love to be known and remembered as a good Nigerian ambassador who served Nigeria through sports and carried Nigeria’s image around the world in a dignified and non-blemish way. A good role model Prince Tunde Omisore.
