Kwakoe Festival is a festival that holds yearly at Bijlmerpark, South East Amsterdam. Its summertime multicultural fun for all. It runs for five consecutive weekends (July/August).
There you see real integration, unity and social commitment of the Black people in Holland.
The origin lies in celebrating abolition of slavery in The Federal Republic of Suriname and the Dutch Antilles on the 1st of July 1963; and the name "Kwakoe" comes from a statue erected to commemorate the momentous event.
