Pelu Awofeso is a recent winner of the CNN/Multichoice African Journalist
Awards in the tourism category. In the last decade his passion has been to
promote Nigeria’s countless tourism assets, both locally and abroad. As a
journalist and editor, his articles have appeared in both local and
international publications, some of which include: World Policy Journal (USA),
Travel Intelligence (Manchester), A24 Media (Kenya); Africa Today, NEXT, The
Guardian and WINGS (Inflight magazine).

Awofeso has published three travel
books based on his travels around Nigeria, and he is currently working on a
series of mini-guidebooks on destinations and attractions in Nigeria. In
January 2014 he launched @TravelNextDoor, a social media driven initiative
aimed at promoting low-budget, short distance travel to destinations and attractions within
Nigeria. On a more practical side, @TravelNextDoor has organised daylong
excursions to historical towns such as Badagry, Abeokuta and Akure and
plans are underway to reach more far flung locations in the country.
Pelu is a man that believes in keeping our environment clean; his love for thecommunity, beauty and health prompted him to launch BEACH Samaritans project, which as been a great success.
