“President Goodluck Jonathan reminds one of a popular legend told in
the elementary school. It was about the notorious tortoise, around
which stories that began and ended with mischief were woven.
The
‘disreputable’ tortoise hatched a ploy to harvest all of the wisdom in
the world, and hoard it for himself. He carried a hollowed gourd around
the villages and towns in his clime, believing that he was ‘harvesting’
all of the wisdom in the world.
Thereafter, he sought the tallest palm-tree in the bush, where he could
hide his cache of wisdom. Gullibly, he slung the gourd in front of his
stomach, as opposed to his back where he didn’t want anyone to ‘steal’
the wisdom. Then, he labored all evening, striving to climb the
palm-tree, but his hands were not long enough to go round the gourd and
grasp the tree.
‘Why don’t
you hang the gourd on your back, instead of placing it between you and
the palm-tree? You would have better grips on the tree if nothing
obstructs you from holding it.’ A passerby suggested to the tortoise,
who thought he had harvested all of the wisdom on earth.
‘I didn't think about that,’ the stunned tortoise replied. There and then, he realized that he didn't harvest all of the wisdom on earth, when it took a foolish-looking passerby to tell him the best way to climb the palm-tree.
President Jonathan has been in the presidential villa, as the substantive president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, since the past five years. He has been bereft of real achievements since the past five years, TILL A FEW WEEKS TO THE PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION. Lately, he has pulled a couple of ‘achievements’ out of his fedora hat. The Nigerian president recently ‘launched’ a couple of war ships and an electric generating station. Unfortunately for Jonathan, Nigerians demystified his stealthy plans to win the presidential election by whatever means possible. Now, the question is why did he wait for five years to re-launch refurbished ‘war ships’ and open an electric generating station a few weeks to election?
President Jonathan could be clueless, but he surrounds himself with scheming tortoises, who believe they could outflank ‘the gullible Nigerians’ – without the latter seeing through their façade of deception. The president and his party have been STAGING their ‘refurbished achievements’ to curry votes from Nigerians. Unluckily for Goodluck, most Nigerians are now wiser than appreciating the man who stages his 'achievements' for electoral purposes. They are smarter than applauding the man who takes a fortune from Nigerians and shows them the 'panda' wristwatches he buys for them. Those who know the danger that lurks in the dark don’t stop the moon from rising. If you comprehend how low Nigeria has sunk on the rungs of world ladder, put an end to Jonathan’s incompetence on Saturday, March 28, 2015.” – DELE AJAJA
