Sola Opesan Brown, DCP Ope Fatinikun and Natural |
Any opportunity to support the community in our own little way is always appreciated by Mother Nature. We went to honour MBE 2017 awardee (CSP ID. Adedeji), just across the road from the prison... I found it necessary to give a bit of me to the inmates and to encourage the correctional officers to be good and loving all the time.

DCP Ope Fatinikun, Sola Opesan Brown and an Officer |
CSP introduced us to the DCP Ope Fatinikun, the Deputy Controller of Prisons, (The Officer-in-charge of Ilesha Prison). We discussed for a few minutes on a particular subject which has nothing to do with his professionalism... I was having my reservations already, but as soon as we continued and went talking more, then I saw the beauty right inside of the gentleman.
I took with me a memory of a well organised man, clean, decent and willing to do his best to reform the institution that he's so passionate about.
After our discussions and asking me which wing do I prefer to visit, I decided to go to see the women because seeing the babies that I was told were with some women was interesting to me to see; we could have done both wings, but time was not on our side. We went through the well cleaned gardens and paths to the women wing to see the female inmates. I spoke with them; I was almost broke down in tears, but I picked myself back up.
I gave a bit of me to them, I believe my words will ring in their ears forever.
We can all give back in our own ways, there's abundant joy in doing so.
