As a Retired Policeman, Lawyer and Lawmaker To Me Security Comes First: Hon. Pa Dejo Osuolale Bello

Sola Opesan Brown and Hon. Pa Dejo Osuolale Bello

I don't go out after 7 P.M because I'm very conscious of what I see and what I hear, also of what I say. This was passed to me by my father, being a very strict man, he hardly let us go out. For me, it was a big pain then; but now I know it was a blessing in disguise this keeps me out of troubles, and also I know how to use my precious time productively at home.

I work so hard, I pursue my dream each day, and I don't let anything come between me and my dream, but I do believe in destiny more. When it is written, nothing can change it.  I'm not from a rich home so I had to work my way myself to get a formal education; the informal education I got from my parents which is a guide in my journey of life. I started my primary education at age 10, modern school at age 17, secondary school at age 25, University at over 50, it was a long walk to success, but it well worth it.

As a retired policeman, lawyer and lawmaker, to me security comes first; I'm very observant, I pay attention to every detail, and carefully I check and read through each document before signing. I'm very conscious not to make mistakes, even though no one is perfect, but I do try my best not to fall as a result of silly little avoidable errors that can cause aches.

I have served my country with all my heart and still serving with love and total commitment; as a policeman I served in different parts of the country, it was not that easy because I had to leave my family, It was hard not seeing my children growing up, the children often complain but they understood  that it was a call that must be obeyed...having a good wife makes the situation a lot easier. My wife is an Ibo woman, intercultural marriage is good with understanding; for us it is love without frontier. I speak the three main Nigerian languages; Hausa, Ibo and Yoruba, it makes me feel good and helps to make my interaction with people much easier...language is strength.

I became a politician for the love of my people, it was something beyond a personal interest. My background as Commissioner of Police and a lawyer is very helpful to me as a lawmaker. I assist people to a fault, I love people and respect, but bullies  I don't tolerant.

Hon. Pa Dejo Osuolale Bello, a lawmaker at Osun State of Nigeria House of Assembly is a new father that I came across a few days ago and it seems I have known him all my life, it took us few days looking at each other from a far, probably we were both studying each other, on the 6th day of watching from a distance, mother nature brought us together and it clicked, it was hard parting with this loving 72 years old man,  he's blessed with maximum experience of life. He has been through all the fields of life, very relaxed and soft spoken, but each word is with wisdom, some are very funny, before I try to smile another one comes up, I quickly stop smiling/laughing so as to grasp what he has to say because I didn't want to miss any word coming from this wise father. We parted but his words of wisdom remain with me...are we meeting again? Yes, he confirmed our next meeting will be on Saturday the 19th of December in The Gambia at Africa Leadership Improver Awards, powered by Miss Black Europe International Pageant and Improver Awards.

"I Believe in Destiny" -  Hon. Pa Dejo Osuolale Bello.
