A relationship is over when one or both of the parties are no longer committed. Honesty is essential, it's the number one ingredient to keep a relationship together. You must be honest with your partner and yourself. There should be no excuses; it must be about what you feel and not what people will think. Both of you have to want it. It takes two to be in a relationship and it takes two to keep it together.
In an ideal world, those we desire to love, will be able to love us back in return. There will be no heartbreak, they will love us passionately and it will last as long as we want it to last. There will be no dismissal. Certainly, in the real world, it isn't like that. Those we love many a time don't return the kindness. Sometimes they might not be interested, and if they were interested, they no longer do. In most cases, there's someone else.
Once in our lifetime, we've all been down the road. It hurts, but we have to learn how to deal with it, we need to move on and eventually someone else will come. But sadly, some are so obsessed with the ones they lost, they want it as a matter of do or die. It doesn't worth forcing anyone to stay, if they do, they are not doing it with their heart. When they stay without their heart, infidelity sets in.
When there's infidelity, it shows that one party is more committed than the other, or none is committed at all. When you cheat, you are inflicting pains, no matter their gender, it hurts. A relationship can survive infidelity, but both must make sure that they want to stay and make it work.
